My daughter came home from her safari to a surprise
new piece of furniture that I had painted for her.
It was a little risky doing it without consulting
with her, but we had talked about repainting it
for some time.
Forgive the poor quality - but I didn't take a picture
before I began painting, but the friend who gave it
to her had said it was a Thomasville, and this was
the closest one I could find. The finish was
exactly like this.
All of a sudden on my Pinterest feed I started
getting all of these gorgeous gold foiled furniture
remakes, and I knew it was meant to be.
I started by lightly sanding the piece and then priming
it with a white paint. I then covered it with chalk paint
and used two colors of aqua chalk paint to make the
ombre effect.
I had gold foiled the dome in my living room many
years ago, so it was fun to do it again. You simply use
the special adhesive and lay the foil over where you
want it. Then seal the foil with a special sealer
made for foil.
I didn't change the hardware, except for these little baubles,
which I got at Hobby Lobby.
I just spray painted and sanded down the original
hardware.
I finished it off by stealing a few accessories
from around her house!
They got home late at night, but she noticed it
right away and was thrilled with the makeover!
Thanks for taking time to stop by to
see what fun we have been up to at
Purple Chocolat Home!
I will be posting this with
and
OMG!!!! I love it, Jackie! Stay healthy.

ReplyDeleteI LOVE LOVE LOVE this Jackie! I am a huge gold foil fan, and love to use it in my abstract paintings~ it always adds such a beautiful pop. I also love how you used the light to dark tones of aqua for the ombre effect, gorgeous!
