Welcome to London, England this morning for my
tablescape.
We are setting up for breakfast in one of the
gardens that Princess Diana helped to plant.
Thus our Airbnb was called Princess Diana House.
It was built in 1608 and she was a patron of the
preschool which occupied the building, so she
was a frequent visitor to the house.
At the time the preschool occupied numbers 61 and 63
of the building. Our Airbnb was number 61.

This morning is one of those fine English mornings
where it might rain, but for now it is nice
enough to set a table.
This tree is the sole survivor from Princess Diana's
ceremonial planting of the garden.
The kitchen on the basement level leads
right out into the garden.

not as well appointed anymore - you can tell it has had a lot of use now -
only one of these chairs are left, the small table is gone and so are the
darling cushions on the settee.)
As you know, Miss Madi K did a lot of carrying for me
in Europe,
and she brought along a couple of
MacKenzie-Childs Berries and Blossoms plates.
My Berries and Blossoms were also brought along on
our B Bakery Vintage Tea Bus Tour, which I highly
recommend next time you visit London (book early,
they sell out!)
When I saw that the kitchen was stocked
with these great placemats and coasters,
I had to put together a small table for two
out in the garden.
I used the mismatched flatware from the kitchen,
but I think that adds a bit of charm.
And I also used the stemware from the kitchen.
They have since changed the name of the home
on Airbnb from Princess Diana House to
Gorgeous Historical Home Minutes from Kings Cross.
That is true, it was about a 10 minute walk through
a lovely part of town to King's Cross Station with
a bus stop right in front of the door. Remember as
you walk to look right first, not left, since they
drive on the opposite side of the street.

ReplyDeleteEach time I see your lodging accommodations I'm convinced I need to look into this for travel across the pond. We enjoyed spending our vacation in an Airbnb with our family in DC so we are familiar with them I love your garden and the history here. The breakfast setting is lovely and I did the same with Berries and Blossoms with a beach theme. They do carry so well. Cute pic of you and your husband and the tour sounds delightful.
