As September wanes we try and stretch
out summer as long as possible.
I just had to share our Mermaid cupcake fun
with your before the leaves all fall and the
cold begins and we all start dreaming of
sitting by beaches! (Actually, I do that year round!)
I made these for a pool party. The little
mermaid are diving into the sugar crystal
foamed waters.
They were super easy with this
wonderful silicone mold
purchased here . You receive two sizes
for under $10 and they are on Amazon Prime
so they come really quickly.
I mixed a little aqua blue gel food coloring
into my white fondant, and didn't knead it
in completely, so I had a marbled effect.
Just press it into the mold and use a knife
to cut off any excess off the back of the
mold. Turn out to dry. if you want your
tail to have a little bit of a flip, let it dry over
a rolling pin.
After they dried I painted a little purple lustre dust on
and added a few sparkly sprinkles to give them
more interest.
My mermaid tails were made and used the same day.
I recommend letting them dry overnight. Some
weren't hard enough and broke off. As you can
see, I used those too. It actually made them a little
more fun and unique.
I added a little rock sugar crystals
to imitate foam on the waves.
These were super easy and fun to make,
and they make your beach cupcakes spectacular.
Here are my little mermaids and sharks.
I made their tails for them.
Always be yourself,
Unless you can be a mermaid,
Then always be a mermaid!
Adorable! Both the cupcakes and your own little mermaids and sharks. You are so talented!
