It is night time up in the Utah mountains at
Deer Valley Ski Resort and
Kristin Chenoweth is in concert.
We have packed a romantic picnic to indulge in
before the concert. The fleur de lys burlap cloth is spread
on a huge painters canvas, which was laid on the grass,
giving the picnic a country French feel.
Just like the French, we are going to indulge in
fabulous cheeses that I brought home from Wisconsin.
More wonderful cheese
from Brennan's Market
in Wisconsin.
We have Smoked Buttercheese, 2 Year Aged White Cheddar,
Peppercorn Cheese, Sundried Tomato and Basil Cheese,
Smoked Gouda and Cheese Curds, and of course some Hot Pepper Cheese.
These are all served at room temperature to bring out the best
flavor in the cheeses.
I made fresh, crusty baguettes to serve with
the wonderful cheeses, which you just break apart
to eat - no cutting necessary.
Our picnic also features chicken salad, topped with
Salt and Pepper cashews. It is great with the crusty
baguettes too.
I chose fun plastic plates and handled cups with
miniature forks to serve our elegant picnic on.
Darling peacock themed napkins that follow the
French theme are perfect for our picnic.
The fun plastic items can be found at Webstaurant
or Zurchers. Just search for mini plastic plates
or bowls on Webstaurant. They come in small
enough quantities, that they are affordable. I
think the miniatures make the picnic extra special.
To end the picnic on a sweet note,
we had
and
Of course, a French picnic wouldn't be complete
without beautiful grapes.
In order to get a good seat at this outdoor venue,
you have to come early, so why not make it a
culinary delight?
I have to admit that we had neighbors who
so admired the picnic that we shared some of
our goodies with them.
Of course, as wonderful as the picnic was,
it paled in comparison to the delightful and
talented Kristin Chenoweth, who wowed the
crowd with her music, her humor, her charm
and her wit.
(Kristin with my friend Brittany, who is a breast cancer survivor. It was so kind of Kristin to meet her. Kristin just exudes warmth and love. She even removed her shoes to be the same
height as Brittany - they are both tiny!)
It was truly magic under the stars.
I will be taking this picnic
to
A most elegant picnic, Jacqueline. The Deer Valley venue looks like a wonderful place.

I want your life!!!!
We'll be traveling to Dallas next month for our oldest daughter's wedding. One of the activities will be jazz in the park. Lovely ideas here that I can take with me. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteNow that's our kind of picnic! We often buy cheese and fruit for a picnic. Just pulled over by a waterfall in OR and pulled out a similar lunch. Added lots of fruit from the farmers market. Your bread and yummy desserts look delicious. Glad you had such a fun evening! Thanks for sharing with SYC.
