Getting Ready for Swimsuit Season

This Grandma gets in the water all the time with her little
cuties so swimsuit season is here.

Don't you just love the women's magazines
this time of year - "Get swimsuit ready in 2 weeks
with these easy exercises!"
Ha ha - don't we wish!  Just pose with a grandchild
in front of you instead.

We always laugh and say, "When do rolls and cellulite
go from being cute to not being cute?"

We are all water bugs!  I definitely learned it from my
mother and I am trying to pass it on to the next
generations.

We love the sun too and I also got that from my mother.
How I miss her.  She has been gone for 23 years now
and she would have loved hanging out at the pool and
in the sun with us.

Mother's Day will be here before we blink.
Write down a few memories of your
mother and make some memories
with your loved ones.

  2. Your grands are adorable and such fun to spend time with them by the pool! I love to do just that with them as well, but where they live is beach and pool weather, mine here is just spring, a little chilli. Enjoy them! Thanks for sharing. Big hugs,

  3. Sure enjoyed this cute post. Brought back memories of my own mom. She loved the sun and in the summer, her favorite place to be was working in her flower beds around the pool. Miss her so. Your grandbabies are adorable...
    I'm ready for swimming season!!

    :)
Hmm I wear long skirts over my bathing suits:)
My girls used to have cute bathing suits like those..As you know I have 4 little grandsons so i don't see too many frills anymore..except on me..
    And it's so cold here:)

    Still..

Never ever does a day go by that I don't think of my mom too.

  5. Beautiful post, your grandgirls are so adorable. I love the water and sun and the beach, when I was young. These last years, not so much! Funny how some things change as we get older. xo

  6. I'm assuming that cutie with the big smile is your namesake?
Here I am a Pisces and have never been a water bug but do enjoy cooling off on a hot day.
I've started wearing Land's End tankinis with the skirt which hides many granny parts. LOL

  7. Your grands are so lucky to have you in their lives. No grands to put in front of me, but I'll put on a swim suit to get in the spa or go to the beach. Happy Mother's Day to you, Jacqueline! ~ Sarah

  11. Such a sweet post Jackie. I love your thinking! I will remember that the next time my little ones come over to swim and someone decides to capture the moment. I wish your Mother was around too. I am sure she would love to share in all of your family fun. Did I tell you, my mother's name is Jacqueline?
I am still waiting to hear from Joni, regarding her blog design.

  12. LOVE your new header! It's wonderful. And, so are those cuties, I've got 2 little ones, with 2 more on the way. But there will still only be 1 girl in the bunch and she has my heart (with all the sequins & glitter).

  14. I thin it's great that you are able to spend time with your grandkids in a way that not only brings you together but provides and promotes a healthy lifestyle. I've always been afraid of the water. We had a pool, and I am the only one in my family who can't really swim!!! The rest of my family members swim like fish!!! I'm sure being in the pool would be great for the physical therapy needed for my back & shoulders, but I just never got comfortable with it. :-(

I know you miss your Mom. I'm sorry.

  16. It won't matter how many exercises I do...something in the skin texture changes after all those years in the sun that just isn't all that pretty anymore. It doesn't keep me away from the water though...we are all water babies at our house too.

As for Mother's Day...my mom died on May 13th, it will be 3 years this year and my Mother-in-law died 2 years ago in April. Mother's Day has just lost its spark for me. I know that I'm a mother but my daughter is far away and my son...well, it isn't a big deal day for him. So, all I feel is a longing for my mom this time of year as the commercials, store displays and cards all remind me that she isn't here.

  17. You're one of the youngest-looking grandmothers I know and it doesn't look like you needed any help getting swimsuit ready :) I'm so sorry your mom has been gone from your life for so long.

    Your grands are adorable!

  19. What beautiful girls... all three of you!

My mother was kind and quiet, very ladylike and sweet. She was always dressed to perfection and wore her hair up and was a belle of belles. My father said that she was the most beautiful woman he ever knew because she was as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside. I miss her, too. She's been gone for 23 years next month and died just before her birthday.

    XO,

    Sheila
