Spider Web Bark

When it comes to Halloween treats Beaulah is all about coming
up with easy ideas.  She was inspired by her pet spiders
and thought a chocolate version of a spider web would be such a great
idea. I loved the idea too.  This was a fun treat that we whipped up
in just minutes.

Beaulah's Spider Web Bark

Melt 2 C chocolate.  Temper it if you are using real chocolate
so that it doesn't streak by melting it and then cooling it to
about 90 degrees.  Test by placing a drop of chocolate on
the counter.  It should harden up within a minute.  If it doesn't,
let it cool while stirring it a little more.  If you are using chocolate
coating, melt it in the microwave at 30 second intervals, making
sure to stir between each interval.

Spread the chocolate out in a circle on parchment paper.

Melt white chocolate drops in the microwave at 30 second
intervals, making sure that you stir between each interval.
Place the completely melted white coating in a squeeze
bottle with a small tip or in a ziploc bag with the corner
cut off.  Start at the middle and pipe a continuous circle
gradually getting bigger until you get within 1/2 inch of the
edge.  Draw a skewer or toothpick through the white
chocolate to create the webbing.

While the chocolate is still soft top it with a candy spider.

Let the chocolate set up and peel the parchment paper off.

Beaulah suggested we serve it whole and let people break pieces
of the bark off.

You were right Beulah, everyone loved it and wanted to
know how to make it.  "Oh, so simple!" she cackled.

Chocolat - French for Chocolate. I adored chocolate from a young age when I had to sneak in the cupboard to find where my mother had hidden the Nestle's Chocolate Chips. Having read about the famous chocolat shoppes in Paris, when I finally got there I was determined to try a chocolate from every Paris shoppe. I invite you to share my adventures in creating, in travel, and in life.

  17. I so want to make this! In the instructions you say when you melt the chocolate to temper it. What does that mean? Hope to give this a try this weekend and bring to work. Thanks!
