Happy Birthday America Ice Cream

Our favorite ice cream flavor at Cold Stone is
Cake Batter. I decided to make some
Birthday Cake Ice Cream
to celebrate our nation's birthday.

I just used my favorite ice cream recipe and added 3/4 C.
white cake mix to the batter.

My favorite ice cream recipe replicates the texture of
custard style without all the work.  I altered the basic
recipe from one my friend Maretta gave me years ago.

It is the first ice cream we have made this season
so I dusted off my Cuisinart 2 Qt. Ice Cream maker.
It is so amazing and churns up such a nice thick
ice cream.

Look at how beautifully frozen that is.

I am not one who likes runny home made ice cream and
the Cuisinart 2 Qt. freezes it really well.  I don't feel the same way
about their smaller ones.  Even so, I usually will
harden it in the freezer after I make it (having a few spoonfuls before
it goes in of course!)

Cake Batter Ice Cream

1 1/4 C. white sugar
7 oz. marshmallow cream
Egg beaters - equivalent of 4 whole eggs
2 C. heavy whipping cream
2 C. milk
3/4 C. white cake mix (dry and sifted)
1 1/2 tsp. white vanilla
1 T. Torani's White Chocolate (opt. -
I always use this in my ice cream - it adds
a smooth rich flavor - find it in the coffee aisle.)

In large mixer bowl, mix together the sugar, cream and
whole eggs.  Then add the cream, milk, cake mix and
flavorings.

Freeze according to your manufacturer's directions.

Place in a freezer container that you have cooled
in the freezer when the ice cream is frozen.  Stir in
sprinkles.  Harden in freezer for 3-4 hours.  It gets
better after ripening for a day or two, but that usually
doesn't happen around here!

If you are making home made ice cream for the 4th of July
you might want to try this wonderful variety.

Have a wonderful July 4th!
(Whether you live in America or not!)
