Part of my fall decor on my coffee table
is now my blog - in book form!
Those of you who were with me in the
spring might remember two days when my
blog completely disappeared - no explanation!
After nearly a year of pouring my heart into
my blog, it was very disheartening to find
that it was shut down. Two days later it
was back, but it was then I decided I wanted
a permanent copy in book form.
Another company was recommended to me,
but I couldn't get it to upload my pictures,
and after two days of messing with it,
I went online to see what people suggested.
I ended up with Blog 2 Print and within 5 minutes
they were able to tell me that I had too many
pictures for one book. I decided to split it
into 3 books and each one literally took less
than 4 minutes to upload. I then just had to
pick my cover and pick a picture for the front
and for the back and that was it.
So I went from this
to this-
When I received them in the mail,
there was such a sense of relief
that I couldn't have it all lost
overnight.
The coffee table has changed
for Thanksgiving with a
floral that I made in neutrals.
I started by filling it with foam
and then added silks, natural
balls, a silk artichoke, calla lillies
and a tassel.
The turkey goes fancy in organza
and velvet.
Everything sits in a tray with a
bronze scarf anchoring the
trayscape.
A pretty ceramic pumpkin
finishes out the vignette.
I had over 3600 pictures to upload. Each book
cost me about $100 to print but
they range from 200 to 300 pages each. The
above is the compressed version, which ends
up being cheaper and I prefer it.
This one is the other option which is
printed exactly as the blog is done. I felt
there was too much empty space and it
is more expensive as it takes more pages.
This would be a great Christmas present
to yourself.
(I have not received any money
from Blog 2 Print, I just wanted to
share this with you and tell you how
pleased I am.)
I will be posting this with
wow what made you pick a purple book ;-)

ReplyDeleteI have my blog printed every 6 months. I just didn't want to lose all the work I've put into the blog. I've used Blog2Print for 3 years now and have been very pleased with the product. Good for you!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI have really been wanting to do this as well, thanks for pushing me over the edge! anne
ReplyDeleteYour beautiful blog and photos needed to be preserved. I love the color! xo
ReplyDeleteJacqueline,
ReplyDeleteThese are such great heirlooms to past on to your family! I did this last year. The one thing I wasn't overly pleased with was the lay~out. I had hoped the lay~out to be more like chapters. Each new chapter started on the top of a page...but overall...I was very pleased! Your books will also be a resource for the years to come!
Fondly,
Pat
Was one year in three books? Or more years than one? I have been wanting to do this too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea. Thank you so much for sharing your experience with this company.
ReplyDeleteJacqueline, great idea to do this. I've considered it, but haven't actually done it. Thanks for the reminder.
ReplyDeleteHow did you divide up the books?
Sarah
I'm looking forward to turning my blog into a book too! In fact, that's what I had in mind when I started it. My friend, Ceekay, from ThinkinofHome has done that too so I figured it was an easy way of "journaling" about our adventures in Florida. I'll definitely check out the company you used. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteCandy
Thanks for the tip about the book! I've been thinking about doing this, and I'm so glad to hear that it's a good service.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea. Thanks for the info. I will check it out after Christmas.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are having a good week.
I've used them and was very happy with the product! What a beautiful keepsake.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea...are you selling some? I have copied all the pages of your blog on my printer, so that I could reference back to them. Good going Jacqueline!
ReplyDeleteHi Jacqueline
ReplyDeleteI'm impressed, the books look awesome and I'll have to check into this.
Judith
What a lovely idea! and what great xmas present these books will make to non-bloggers, bloggers and admirers of beautiful decor! Think about selling them...I'll buy a few copies for me and my friends!!!
ReplyDeleteThe books are gorgeous - I'm just trying to get up the nerve to organise one for myself.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful idea!! Thank you for sharing this information. I am going to check it out and do this. It will also be great gifts. What a way to carry on you legacy!!
ReplyDeleteAndrea
Jackie I am so excited for you!! I want to come see them. I am going to do mine real soon. Thanks for sharing!! Love you!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited you printed a book! It looks awesome, and such a great idea to do!
ReplyDeleteI did that too !!! ....and i am verry happy with my first blog year book....in january i make the second......only my pictures where a little bit small....now i have seize up all the pictures from my blog.....and hope it is okee......and i put comments by some posts.......that is also nice to remember......i must make a post of it.......so you see it later on my blog.......love from me...happy day !!.....xxx...
ReplyDeleteI had no idea you could do this. Thanks for sharing your info. I too woke up one day last week to find my blog had "shut down". I had to really work to figure out how to get it restored, but it did, quite literally, make me ill. I need to ask for this for Christmas....however tiny it will be. :) I love your new purple coffee table treasures.
ReplyDeleteOH JACKIE, I hope you get this before you repost for Table Top Tuesday...but thank you dearest for visiting me; I am very sick and was unable to come to visit last night.....but this is an idea that I have had for a while...what I am going to do during the holiday vacations is I am going to take what I think are my best posts and tweak them into poems...and then make my own books...now, see, I don't use any of my own photos! How does that rest with the publication of the book, using OTHER people's photos? I know you take your own beautiful pictures, but with me, it would be difficult. So that is why I am opting to take my words and just try to publish the words alone...BUT THIS IS A GREAT IDEA!
ReplyDeleteBack later...Anita
What a great idea! I agree, you should sell them! No surprise it's purple!
ReplyDeleteWow you are a sweetheart to share this and I love your books! I heard that you can back up your blog somewhere but have not looked into it yet as I am quite new to blogging. But this I will keep for future for sure. You are so right we put loads of effort into our blogs. What a fab idea. thanks

Tassels Twigs and Tastebuds
Great idea..with all the time..love..effort you put into your blog..well this was a must.
ReplyDeleteGood for you.
I was very happy with my book also and recommend them:)
Well, your book looks beautiful, and I love the color you selected for the cover! Perfect!
ReplyDeleteI, too, experienced the shock of having my blog shut down, but I was able to get it running again.
Can you select which pictures you'd like in your book and which articles? I don't know that I would want my entire blog, but I would like certain articles. Does it also upload the comments? Those are actually my favorite parts because some people say the funniest things and others, the sweetest.
I'm so glad you let us know about this, Jacqueline. Thank you!
XOXOXO,
Sheila :-)
Congratulations Jackie, your books are lovely and a great idea. Something else that is lovely is your vignette, the tassel is very elegant. I've seen them in stores and did'nt know what to do with them. Know I know.

I've thought about doing this for my daughter. I wouldn't put in every blog post, but the recipes and tablescapes would be fun for her to have. I'm glad to hear a good review about these. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a grand idea. I love the purple cover! My daughter makes a book each year from her family blog. It makes such a wonderful keepsake.
ReplyDeleteExceptional idea, Jacqueline! I would completely go into a catatonic state if anything ever happened to my blog, so I may follow suit. Thanks for the idea and tip on where to get it accomplished, you wonderful, wild woman!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this great idea. Your books are beautiful. I love your purple.

The French Hutch
Last week I was in the middle of a post and wondered why it would not save. I opened another page and typed in my blog address and got the message "we're sorry, this blog has been removed". I thought it was some error on my part. Tried again. Same message. I then googled my blog and clicked a link that way. Same message. I thought I'd check my other blog. Same message. I then went to my gmail account to email google about it. SAME message! I had to google blogger information and fill out a form, using not my email since they'd cut it off, but another for them to contact me. The next day I got a message from Google apologizing for the inconvenience. I was about in tears wondering what rule I'd broken or done wrong for Google to come in and shut me down...completely! I'm doing this and backing my blog up to some other form other than blogger. I found out that Google automatically uses words to detect spam and they'll shut your blog down with NO notice at all. Then when you ask them to look into it if they find anything suspicious (even in comments!!!!) they can shut it down and not say anything else about it...including an explanation of why. Quite unnerving if you ask me.
ReplyDeleteWhen my blog was out of commission for that small amount of time, I really thought about having all my eggs in one basket. It was crushing to think I'd lost what I've poured so much of myself into for the past 2 years.
I hope your readers , those who blog, take your post to heart!
Thanks for the great information and link to your source.
What a great keepsake anyway! My Mom would love it as a gift!
Nancy
Hi Jacqueline, I really enjoyed this post. Your blog is so very, very beautiful and I'm glad you have made this fabulous keepsake. Have a wonderful day! You brightened mine!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Beth
How neat to put your blog in a book!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! When are they going to be offered for sale??? Jackie
ReplyDeleteGreat idea - thanks! I can't imagine what it felt like to find your blog had disappeared like that! I will definitely look into this. Your blog is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteCindy
I had the same experience a few weeks ago...my blog was removed without any explanation or reason and there is really no recourse. Like the others mine came back but it was very, very distressing. I love the idea of the books.
ReplyDeleteI love this idea! Yours looks like a professional did it. Your tablescapes are so beautiful, gonna go pin some :)
ReplyDeleteThree volumes? WOW! I so want to do this! They look beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea. They look wonderful.
ReplyDeleteVisiting from Wow Us Wednesday.
Thank you Jacqueline for the information. I have wanted to have a copy of mine too. You are always on top of things.
ReplyDeleteThank you for posting about this! I am totally planning to do this at the end of the year. How many pages is each of your books? I figure by the end of the year I will probably be up to like 100 posts. Do you know how many posts are in each book? Does it bother you the captions to the pictures aren't under the pictures? I can't wait to do this!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your input about the Blog Book. I plan to do this at the end of the year too! They look like wonderful books!
ReplyDeleteOops, thank you so much for linking to Potpourri Friday. It's so nice having you as a guest each week!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea to put your blog in a book. It is nice to have all of that work in print somewhere! Great job! Thank you for linking it up to Home Sweet Home!
ReplyDeleteSherry
You have inspired me to look into Blog2Print again. I looked at their site a few years back, but never followed through with it. I get their specials through email so I really should do it. Thanks for sharing your experience!
