Frankie Frankenstein Cupcakes and Giveaway

Beaulah introduced me to Frankie Frankenstein
(who knew she had such cute friends!)

Frankie is nice and sweet and really delicious.

He was inspired by his dad, you may have seen him
around in the movies.

But this guy is not so scary.

Frankie was made with a jumbo cupcake, but you
could make yours with little cupcakes.

After the cupcake was frosted, he was covered with
green and black chocolate clay.

Roll the green clay out and cut it into a circle that is
slightly larger than the top of the cupcake so that it can
drape down.  Roll the black clay out and using the same
cup or cookie cutter that you used, cut a half circle out.
Using a sharp knife, cut jagged bangs.  Use a little clear
vanilla or lemon extrac to stick the hair on.  Roll a small
green snake for his brow.  Add edible eyes (I have found
them at Target this year in the cake decorating section.)
Stick those on with a little clear vanilla also.

Use an edible marker to make his mouth and scar.

I gave the recipe for the chocolate clay before, but I will
include it here again because it is so easy.

Chocolate Clay

5 oz. chocolate or chocolate coating discs
1 1/2 T. light corn syrup.
food coloring as desired

Melt the chocolate in the microwave for one minute, stirring
after one minute (whether it looks like it needs it or not - have you
heard me say that before?!!)  Microwave it for another 30
seconds then stir again.  If it needs more time, microwave it
in 10 second intervals.

Remove from microwave and color it to the desired
color.  Then stir in the corn syrup.  It will turn into a
stiff frosting consistency.  Spoon out onto plastic wrap
or parchment paper and let sit out uncovered overnight.

Now it is ready to knead until soft.  Don't worry if it looks
greasy, that will knead back in.  Store in a ziploc bag
and knead it until soft every time you want to use it.

We chose to make jumbo cupcakes because
they fit better into these Wilton cupcake wrappers.

A regular cupcake just disappeared inside it.

Frankie is going to be appearing on my tablescape
this week.  He looks forward to seeing you there.
