This copycat version of Winger's salad just
might become one of your family's new
summer favorites.
It is so easy and so delicious. There are recipes
for a Winger's style sauce all over the internet.
We tweak ours just a little using Frank's Buffalo
sauce rather than Frank's Hot Sauce.
Sticky Fingers Salad Recipe
1 head Romaine lettuce, washed, chopped and
refrigerated
2 lb. deli chicken strips
fresh Ranch dressing (made with buttermilk)
1/2 C. Franks Buffalo Sauce (not hot)
1 1/2 C. brown sugar
Prepare the lettuce and make sure to take the
time to refrigerate it for at least half an hour before
using so that the lettuce is crisp. Slice the chicken
strips from the deli into bite size pieces. We have also
bought chicken strips from KFC. (They are usually
more pricey than the ones from your grocery store deli.)
You can also buy frozen chicken strips and cook them
yourself , but I find the deli ones are a lot meatier and
juicier.
In a small saucepan place the Buffalo sauce and the brown
sugar. Heat until the brown sugar is dissolved, stirring and
making sure that the sauce doesn't burn on the sides
of the pan. Let cool for a few minutes.
Toss the chicken with the sauce. Place the lettuce
on a serving dish and top with saucy chicken. Drizzle
fresh Ranch dressing over. (Don't use the bottled Ranch,
it is worth the effort to make it, and be sure to make it
with real mayo and buttermilk to get the best flavor.)
Serve right away.
Of course you can make Sticky Fingers
without the salad too and serve it with
Ranch or blue cheese dressing and celery sticks.
I will be posting this with
We make this quite frequently -- I like it at home much better than at Winger's. There is something so wonderful in with the vinegar and the Frank's combined. Yummy! Joni

ReplyDeleteNo question that this will become one of my family's favorites. I make something similar but have never added the sauce. Great addition along with homemade ranch dressing. Easy but oh, so good.

Hi Jacqueline!
ReplyDeleteThis salad sounds delicious.
I hope you are having a great week!
You ROCK with these easy to make, delicious summer recipes! It's what's for dinner tonight..
ReplyDeleteYour salad looks great:)
ReplyDeleteI also add thinly sliced celery for a little crunch and sometimes I'll add thinly sliced green onion as well. I also make a "sandwich" using the coated breasts, romaine leaves and a spread of equal amounts of blue cheese and cream cheese, thinned with a little heavy cream and finely chopped celery and green onion mixed in the spread. They're like a "wing" dinner only with a twist. Your Nestle pie was to die for! I immediately went to Half.com and ordered the cookbook.
ReplyDeleteOh my does this ever look delish!!:)
ReplyDeleteI need to show this to my husband. He will LOVE it!
ReplyDeleteHope you're having a great day, my friend.

ReplyDeleteGREAT photos, too of your food at Lake Powell. We've been there, but not on a house boat. My baby sis in AZ does that with her friends every year. I've always wanted to take my g'kidlets. ~~Someday~~
