Humuhumunukunukuapua'a

Try to say that several times in a row!

It's even written on the side of the plate to help you.

Until High School Musical 2 most non-Hawaiian

islanders wouldn't even know how to pronounce

this huge word.  Now, many teenagers and tweens

and even younger kids can sing it over and over again.

The humuhumunukunukuapua'a is a trigger fish

found on the outer reefs of Hawaii.

We first heard this name when we visited the

fabulous Grand Wailea Resort and Spa

on Maui.

They have a restaurant named Humuhum.......

I worked and worked on pronouncing it.

I should have just waited until

Disney put it to song!

At this restaurant perched over a lagoon

we had dishes served in these wonderful

fish plates.

Of course, being a collector of such

things, I wanted some.

We searched all over the island and on our last day,

we found a little shop in Lahaina that was carrying

this artists beautiful plates.

This tablescape is a tribute to Hawaii and their special fish.

The Hawaiian island fish have been joined by

locals - the little fishies and crabs

are from Home Goods/TJ Maxx this year.

This butterfly fish also flew over from Hawaii -

he is by the same artist,

Ben Diller.

This is another variation of the Humuhumu......

He calls it the "Picasso Triggerfish".

The Hawaiians are accompanied by placemats and napkin

rings from Wal Mart.

The blue plates are from Pier 1 and the

white plates from Big Lots.

The linens are "made to order"

I ordered myself to make them.

Fabric is from JoAnn Fabrics.

For those of us that are inlanders, or mainlanders,

shells and white sand can be purchased at Wal Mart.

The pewter crab platter came from Cabo, as did the glasses.

I just love all of the fun colors in these tropical plates.

Ahhh!  Twilight has come.  I have so admired

everyone's candlight pictures.  This is my

first time to try them.

It was so cool and peaceful.  The Blue Hour here starts

at about 9:10.

We were out grilling and enjoying the evening.

It is a little late to invite people over for dinner,

but how about snacks?

The blue sky almost makes it look like we are

Under the Sea.

Anyway for tonight it was just my husband and me.

We are now looking back at our house. 

The mountains really show up here in the Blue Hour.

This mountain is called Squaw Peak.
