Jann, from Have A Daily Cup of Mrs. Olson,
that I featured on my last post,
and I volunteered to make the cake.
I decided to make my
but I wanted to jazz it up a bit.
I played around with some white chocolate
coating, cutting it into triangles, and
making swoops with the back of a spoon,
and then dusting it with pink praline powder
that I got in Paris.
I dolled up some lemon and raspberry macarons
that I found at Costco ($15 for 36) with a little
glitter.
Some pearls and fresh raspberries finished off
the top of the cake.
I love the look of these wing-like swoops.
Just dip your spoon in the white chocolate
and smear it onto parchment paper. Make
extras in case the thin chocolate at the edge
breaks when you remove it.
The frosting is a lemon whip cream, so we took
a quick picture and then put it back in the
fridge until we served it after dinner.
Jann's birthday cake was lit off with these amazing
I had seen them years ago in a fancy restaurant in
town, and tried to contact the company to purchase them,
but no luck! Now you can buy them online!
They are the perfect topping for this showstopper cake.

Such a gorgeous cake. I bet Jann felt so special. What's not to love with the lemon and raspberry, especially the pretty macarons and pearls. This cake looks so decadent too.
ReplyDeleteJacqueline, you really do make the most decadent desserts. This cake is beautiful! I'm sure Jann was so honored that you would do this for her. It's beautiful.

ReplyDeleteI have missed visiting you !!! So happy to be back in blogland, reading and viewing all it's loveliness. I'm gonna make this cake !!!
ReplyDeleteMY OH MY! Jacqueline, this is what I LONG TO DO! Oh how sensational this must be for all the senses! You have party favors such as the lights and bunting, your beautiful and warm smile, and this cake. I bet your guests and family will remember the flavors for years to come, as I can remember the taste of my mother's Betty Crocker trendy experiments: orange cake with buttercream and COKE cake...they all say "SUMMER" to me!
ReplyDeleteThank you kindly for coming to visit my blog. It's always lovely to see dear blogger friends!
Jacqueline,
ReplyDelete"Wow" cake is the perfect name for this and your presentation with the macarons and glitter make it even beyond wow! The recipe is so interesting with the mayo. I know my aunt used to make a chocolate cake with mayo, which she said kept it moist. I love the combo of raspberries and lemon too. Such a special treat for the birthday girl and the guests too!
Linda
