Grand Wailea's Pineapple Banana Split

AAHHH!!  One of our favorite desserts from Maui's
Grand Waileas Resort and Spa.

This is a dessert built for two!

You can either partake of this at the poolside Bistro
or outside at the adult's only pool,
The Hibiscus Pool.

Just imagine having this served to you pool side!
What a definition of paradise.

A pineapple shell filled with three scoops of premium
vanilla bean ice cream
topped with chocolate covered bananas dusted
with coconut,
fresh strawberries, hot fudge, whipped cream
and crushed chocolate covered almonds.

That should have you salivating!

Start by dipping the bananas in chocolate.

Chill the bananas about 15 minutes in the fridge.
Remove and cut in half length wise

Meanwhile melt 2 C. semi-sweet chocolate chips
with 4 tsp. vegetable oil in the microwave.
Melt for one minute, then STIR (do not omit
the stirring even if it doesn't look like they need it
or they will scorch on the bottom.)
Melt another 20-30 seconds if needed.  STIR
Continue in 10 second increments as needed.

I placed my chocolate in the long corn holders for
corn on the cob and then rolled my bananas in the
chocolate.
Remove and place on parchment.  Sprinkle coconut
on the wet chocolate. Place in the fridge to set.

Slice a whole pineapple in half.

Scoop out the pineapple.

Fill it with 2-3 scoops of premium ice cream.
Top with hot fudge, fresh strawberries, crushed pineapple
(if desired) and whatever other toppings you would like.

Finish with whipped cream and chopped chocolate covered
almonds (or whatever nut you like).

Serve with 2 spoons and dig in.

Aloha.

Chocolat - French for Chocolate. I adored chocolate from a young age when I had to sneak in the cupboard to find where my mother had hidden the Nestle's Chocolate Chips. Having read about the famous chocolat shoppes in Paris, when I finally got there I was determined to try a chocolate from every Paris shoppe. I invite you to share my adventures in creating, in travel, and in life.
